Stories of the Big Birthday Bash – an Unexpected Bride

In recent posts we have mentioned about all the organisation that goes into events… and the Big Birthday Bash was organisation and more!!

So, when we were coming up with our risk assessments and contingency plans, one thing we didn’t quite anticipate was that a bride would wish to depart right through the middle of the event while we had a couple of hundred people gathered…

Well, as we had everyone together to chat through the plans for the day outside the hall, we were a little confused by a black van pulling up… it turned out it contained a bride’s wedding dress. We realised at that moment that we hadn’t quite anticipated an unexpected bride.

Not long after the hotel manager came to us and asked if there was anyway we could accommodate the departing from the main hall entrance to get into the limo that would be taking her to her wedding. Having worked out the logistics and the timings, we wanted to do everything we could to help send her on her way in style… so we let everyone attending know what was happening, and it was absolutely lovely that a few members decided that they would celebrate her big day with a song!

As is only right for any bride, there was a slight delay for her departure, but when the moment came, members cheered her on her way and she looked absolutely delighted!

We found out later that she was awe struck by the friendly faces sending her so many great wishes on her big day. But then, that’s what the Figgy Community is all about – making wonderful memories with lovely people!
