Ace Cafe London Meet – Saturday 6th April 2018

Leaving home at 8 in the morning and with a poor forecast on the cards we literately had everything crossed for dry weather. On arrival a large rental truck was parked up and confirmed that the team from The Figaro Shop were already on site and enjoying a full English breakfast! Setting up our club tent took less time than normal (we must be getting the hang of it) and we were ready at 10. Time for a coffee and a well earned Ace Cafe Sausage & Egg bap!  Glancing out the window we noticed a topaz mist fig park up. Pat Light had left at 4pm and driven 575 kms from Cornwall and he was still the first one here. That’s dedication for you and it was obvious he had one hand on the furthest travelled trophy! As more and more cars arrived the empty car park started to fill up and look really good. Belinda Richardson had contacted me before hand and given the task of leading the convoy from Ruislip Lido to the Ace. Arriving at around 10.50 with 6 cars in tow (she lost 2 on-route!). Heads turned as Colin Bullock arrived in his topaz mist figgy with matching trailer.  Due to the combined length it was not possible for him to park in the lines so we decided to park him in a prime location just in front of our club tent. Voting for best dressed fig commenced at 12.00 followed by our traditional ‘group shot’ but this year with a shout-out to Toby Davis. At 14.00 it was time to call the raffle and announce the winners. Thanks again to everyone who attended and we hope to see you again next year!
