Figaro’s get-together at the Truro Classic Car Show. Sponsored by Cornish solicitors Coodes, and raising funds for Macmillan Cancer Support, Truro BID brought the third Truro Classic Car Show back to the city on Sunday 6 July, giving thousands of car lovers and the many shoppers passing through the City a unique opportunity to see a wide variety of cherished classic and vintage vehicles in a city centre location.
This year, vintage cars, vans, and motorcycles were showcased across the city on Lemon Quay, Lemon St, Boscawen St, St Nicholas St, High Cross, and Pydar St. Along with the vintage vehicles, residents and visitors browsed automobilia stalls and enjoyed live music.

Determined not to be under-represented, three Figaro owners brought their small objects of desire to the show and, by good fortune, were able to display their vehicles together right at the heart of the event on Lemon Quay, very conveniently located near Weatherspoons or a Marks & Spencer sandwich.
We would have been four, but Paula from Dorset couldn’t make it in the end, so it was down to Tony from Truro (Pale Aqua), Lynette and husband from South Devon (custom Aubergine), and Evelyn and Peter(Topaz Mist) from Constantine near Falmouth to fly the Figaro flag. Our little cars made a big impact and, as usual, most show visitors stopped to talk, or at least pointed and took photos.
Comments like “best in the show” and “I want one!” were repeated over and over. There were many extremely glamorous cars elsewhere in the show, but the Figaros stood out with their winning combination of style, elegance and individuality.
The weather, on the other hand, was somewhat less attractive, but it managed to stay dry more than it rained. Despite that, all in all, it was a super, very well-attended event, and it would be great to see a few more Figs next time.
