Kevin Fagan – Fluid Dipstick Modification

I’ve read with interest some of Kevin’s articles and indeed videos regarding Figaro repairs and maintenance, so, if you’ve not already thought of it the transmission fluid dipstick mod may interest you.

As you can see by the picture at the top it’s just an off-cut of underfloor heating pipe that’s been heated with a hot air gun until it just pushed over the top of the dipstick handle, although any piece of semi-rigid plastic pipe would do however and it works a treat.

The bottom picture shows how easy it is to see the dipstick now.

I’d dropped the transmission sump plate to check and clean the gearbox filter and got fed up with struggling to check the fluid level!  It would be easily taken off to revert to the original set up if required.
