Moffat Car Show – 28th June 2026

As Moffat is always a great weekend we were delighted to be returning for their annual Rally and Show held every year on the last weekend in June.

Joint Community Coordinator for Scotland, Ken, reports in on a run and car show in the Scottish Borders…

We had eight cars signed up for the Sunday Show with 3 of us doing the 45 mile ‘Scenic Drive Out’ on the Saturday. After assembling in the Moffat Showground we head off in groups to the High Street where, it seems, the entire town has come out to support the event and wave the cars off on their run!

I couldn’t manage a ‘top down’ run as the Saturday did have a few persistent showers, although it did clear later. However, that didn’t dampen spirits and the circular route through the Borders scenery and up to the Tala reservoir was, as ever, spectacular! About 5 miles from the end we had our regular stop at the Moffat Water Hall where the committee sell teas, coffees and cakes and savouries for Hall funds.

Saturday evening saw nine of us getting together for a lovely ‘pre-show’ meal at the Manse Bistro – thanks to Libby Welsh for organising!

When I registered on the Saturday I had done a quick ‘recce’ to see where we were located for the show. It looked like we were very close to the main pedestrian routes and I thought we would probably get quite a bit of footfall and passing visitors. That indeed proved to be the case – we were busy all day from 10am to 4pm with loads of admiring fans (old and new!), and a good number of potential purchasers who received usual ‘The buyer’s guide is ESSENTIAL’ line!

The Sunday early morning showers faded away and blue skies and sunshine emerged.

Thanks again to Carol; Ann & Sandy; Heather and Reid; Fiona & Les; Libby & Trevor; David & Kerry; Eileen; and Jenni for their attendance, commitment and support to the Club!

It’s always a sign of a great event when you’re talking about next year before this year’s event is finished – I know at least three of us have already booked our B&Bs or Hotels for the 2027 Rally and Show already!!

Thanks so much for organising this Ken!
