Millport Classic Car Event – 21st June 2025

Words and Pictures by Ken Graham, Scottish Chapter Coordinator

The fourth June weekend event in a row for the Scottish Chapter took place on Saturday, 21st June, and this one involved a ferry trip across the Firth of Clyde from Largs to Millport on the Isle of Great Cumbrae.

We had an early start, catching the 8.15 am ferry crossing, which got in place in plenty of time. However, some other members weren’t so lucky as the beautiful weather combined with a fully subscribed Car Show resulted in a mile-long queue for subsequent ferries!!

As the venue at Garrison House filled up, there was some ‘shuffling’ of the locations of cars required, and we were fortunate to get a great spot with lovely shade beneath some trees!

As all five Figaros arrived, we settled into our routine of coffee, cake & chat with loads of members of the public interested in our cars. It was lovely to see our adopted Scots (Marc & Gwyn), who, having moved to Scotland, were beginning to get into Scottish Chapter activities. Great to see Marc sporting his 10-year-old Scotland Rally tee shirt from 2015 (Marc & the tee shirt were both wearing well, as was Gwyn, of course!)

After a busy day, the four Figaros decided to do a circuit of the Island (a 10-mile circuit, very popular with cyclists) and stopped halfway round for a refreshment!

We then headed for the ferry to find the morning queues had now transferred to the return trip, with a 90-minute wait for the ferry! However, it couldn’t spoil a wonderful day!

THANKS
Thanks again to Carol, Heather & Reid, Mervyn & Mags, Marc & Gwyn, and Isabelle & Isabelle (and her daughter) for all their help and support.

Our packed June concludes next weekend at the Moffat Classic Car Rally & Show (over two days!). Time for some rest & relaxation after that, I think!!
