Irish Chapter Nissan Figaro 30th Birthday Party – Sunday 13th August 2021

The Irish Chapter of the Figaro Owners Club came out in style on Sunday the 13th, 2021. It all started with great disappointment when me (Dolly) had to cancel the main event in England. So, I said to myself, well, we get knockdown, but we get up again, what can I do to celebrate our wonderful Figgy’s. And an idea began. I placed the idea on Facebook and our WhatsApp group. Due to Covid, we were only allowed approx. 15 people. The idea was snapped up! So, the planning began. We were lucky enough to privately book out Coolcarrigan House and gardens in Coil Dubh Co. Kildare for the day in question. We all met at the main entrance at 11.30 am and lined up accordingly with 30th balloons all swinging from our beauty’s. Everyone was dolled up to the nines in 1950s gear.

Lights…Camera…Action!!!!!! Our photographer was ready to take a drone of us coming down the wonderful avenue to the house. The avenue was full of colorful flowers and a lake on either side…a lovely setting…

We parked up the cars at the House and chatted and chatted about engines etc…

Following on we had a picnic on the lawn and goodie bags were given out. Thanks to Lilly O Briens chocolates who were so generous and gifted us boxes of chocolates, which made our day even sweeter. And Thanks to The Figaro Shop who also came up trumps with beautiful air fresheners. And we also had 30th birthday keyrings made and bubbles. YES, bubbles…always good to bring the kid back out in us all. Thank you also to our photographer Paul Loughlin who gave up his time for free and did the drone. And also, to his wife Gillian who is the very first Lady to be Chairperson in our local GAA club Ballyteague, who presented the trophies to all our deserving winners

The invitation appeared on Facebook

We then played Croquet on the beautiful lawns in the blistering heat with the backdrop of the arboretum and wonderfully scented peaches. The owner Rob and his wife brought us on a tour of the gardens which were full of flowers and trees from all over the world. And we visited the house which was built in 1830 and Hanna Webb got the privilege of playing the Pianola. Following on we had a fun Figaro Quiz. Lots of laughter went on here.

We had an awards ceremony.

Amanda and Gerry won the best car and rightly so as Gerry did all the work himself and his engine well Woo-hoo. I won best dressed. Very proud indeed lol. Camilla won The Figaro Quiz (It got very competitive…however Camilla came up trumps thankfully as she is the coordinator for the republic of Ireland lol. Joanna and Mark win the Furthest Travelled from Northern Ireland. Max Webb won the best player of games.

To wrap up this momentous day we then headed to the church that is also on the grounds. It was so quaint and great history, and the door of the church key was massive. Here, me and my wonderful husband David, got a photo taken at the Alter as we are 25 years married this year. so lovely to mark it on this special occasion.

We all said goodbye to each other, and we all couldn’t believe our luck as it seemed we were meeting old friends and for some, it was their first debut with the club… It was a day we will all remember for the rest of our lives. New Friends made all thanks to this club.
