Door Entry – How to gain entry to the car if your handle becomes jammed

One of the most common issues with the car is not being able to gain entry after shutting to door. This happens when the release mechanism becomes jammed and requires oiling. On the side of the door is a bung that when removed allows you to gain entry to do this but of course, the issue is you need to open the door first.

The reason the door will not open is that the lever has become jammed in the open position and is not springing back to the closed position to allow it to open again. What you need to do is release this and the way to do that is to use some WG40 with a nozzle and spray this into the lever. Then using a long screwdriver or even maybe a fork from your cutlery draw and carefully ease out the lever and whilst oiling and the lever should pop back out, allowing you to open the door again. Once you have opened the door, remove the bung and with a torch, you will see the mechanism moving inside, try to aim the WD40 at the moving parts.

OIL THE LOCK TO
Also for good measure oil the barrel lock by inserting the key and turning it and from the door side by inserting the nozzle into the key slot. Remove any residue oil from the door.
