Tayside Classic – 14th June 2026

Having missed the 2025 event due to a clash of dates it was wonderful to return to Errol Airfield for the always well organised and well attended Tayside Classic Car Show.

Joint Chapter Coordinator for Scotland, Ken, gets pumped about the show… or at least tries to… read on to find out more…

Our potential 7 cars had been reduced to 6 as one member’s car was awaiting return from The Figaro Shop after some major work. However, we actually ended up with 7, as another Fig owner’s Car Club was located adjacent to our pitch and he was delighted when we invited him to join our Figaro display. David was very interested in the Owners club and took away a leaflet with the intention of joining soon!

Set up was all proceeding smoothly with me looking forward to giving the inflatable gazebo its 2nd ‘airing’ of the show season – I proudly laid it out and went to get the air pump, only to discover it was in my garage at home!! Disaster, however, was averted as I sought out a trader with an inflatable gazebo who kindly lent me a pump to save my total embarrassment! Needless to say there were many comments about how many messages I would receive to ensure the pump was in the car for Millport the following week!!

We had received an invitation to show our cars in the Parade Ring at 1.45pm and members (including our potential ‘newbie’, David) were delighted to do a few circuits. In fact we had a good few more circuits than planned owing to the generator powering the microphone running out of fuel while I was waxing lyrically about Figaros – there is, of course, no truth in the suggestion it ran out of fuel because I talked for SO long….!

This was the first event of 2026 many of our Club ‘regulars’ had attended, so much time was spent chatting and catching up. But, as usual, we had loads of interest from the public and lots of ‘Figgy Ownership Desire’ shown!!

Thanks to Carol; David & Kerry; Mervyn & Mags; Libby & Trevor; Fiona & Les and Heather & Reid for their support of the Club and to Eileen McIntosh, who, despite not having her Fig available, popped over from the Morris Minor stand where she was helping a family member to show their
car.

The weather was great and I departed with numerous yells of ‘Don’t forget the air pump next week’ ringing in my ears!!

Thanks so much for organising this Ken!
