Nissan Figaro – Colours
ORIGINAL COLOURS – INSPIRED BY GEMSTONES
Back in 1990, Nissan produced a 14-page A5 brochure showing early sketches and detailing of the car. In addition to familiar images, the publication also covers interesting items such as airflow and additional strengthening and rigidity of the chassis. Divided into sections including Concept, Exterior, Interior, Mechanism of convertible top & Specification, it’s a very rare find.
Page 5 details how the colours were chosen, from which a translation made in 2020 reveals the four original colours were inspired by gemstones rather then seasons as was popularly thought.
- Emerald Green – Crisp green colour of Emeralds
- Pale Aqua – Light blue of Aquamarine
- Lapis Grey – Deep blue-grey of Lapis Lazuli
- Topaz Mist – Calm beige of Topaz
We still think that the seasons work really nicely too… just in a slightly different order than the brochure presented …
- Emerald Green – Spring
- Pale Aqua – Summer
- Topaz Mist – Autumn
- Lapis Grey – Winter
We have pages about the paint codes, and interior trim colours, but read on to find out more about the Figaro colours…
The pastel shades of the original colours certainly suit the car, with some colours more popular than others – Lapis Grey was the most popular colour, although Emerald Green is increasingly popular.
Pale Aqua is a bright shade of blue, while Topaz Mist was one of the least popular colours – but making it one of the rarest colours which can now command a higher price.
