Liz stars at Two Comic Con Events

Member Jaymes Gardiner has been in touch to let us know about two Comic Con events he has attended with his Figaro “Liz” who was used on screen in Doctor Who and The Sarah Jane Adventures.

As members may recall, Jaymes was astonished to discover the history of his Figaro earlier this year, after he had already named his Figaro after Doctor Who star Liz Sladen.

16th November 2025 – Salisbury Mini Con at Fiver Rivers Leisure Centre

Liz was first displayed at a Mini Con along side a screen accurate KITT from Knightrider, and received a fair bit of attention – especially from the guys who run Daleks of Somerset who brought out a Dalek to pose next to Liz.

We also had Doctor Who legend John Levene who played Sargent Benton in classic Doctor Who to pose with the car – he loved the car and said it’s definitely a unique looking vehicle!

22nd November 2025 – Weston-Super-Mare Stars of Time Comic Con at The Winter Gardens

This was Liz’s first major comic con, which involved having to get up mega early and driving for three hours to get to the event as it started really early.

Situated on the waterfront in Weston-Super-Mare, it definitely was a very scenic location but sadly it was pretty grotty weather and rained a fair amount with strong winds.

But that didn’t put people off at all. Placed at the front door (the only vehicle attending the event) with a gazebo as I knew it was going to rain, I sat with the car and charged £5 for people to sit in the car.

I made a lot more money than the previous con as the first one was a new event, while this one had been going on for quite a few years now.

As before, the car saw lots of attention from event goers and guests.

I managed to get three of the guests to sit in the car – Anita Dobson (Mrs Flood – Doctor Who, Angie Watts – EastEnders), Paul Kasey (Monster actor – Doctor Who) and Tim Dane Reid (Monster actor – Doctor Who) – all three of them loved the car, with Anita Dobson asking if she could take it out for a spin.

I also got a screen accurate K9 to pose with the car when there was a gap in the rain!

The event organisers for both of these events said they would happily have Liz again for future events next year – which I would definitely be up for, especially with nicer weather!
