Petrol and Diesel Phase Out in Jersey
From 2030, Jersey plans to start a phase-out the importation and registration of petrol and diesel vehicles.
We are concerned as to what this could mean for both current and prospective Figaro owners.
Figaro Owners Club is looking at a consultation on the proposed legislation from the Government of Jersey, while also engaging with other concerned motorsport and car clubs in Jersey.
Jersey is the largest of the Channel Islands, a self-governing British Crown Dependency in the English Channel, and host to the fantastic Jersey Rally the club held there in 2018. As part of the Jersey government’s Carbon Neutral Roadmap (agreed by the States Assembly in 2022), the aim is to reduce the Island’s greenhouse gas emissions as far as possible by 2050 and reach their net zero target. Jersey’s phase-out will prevent specific groups of vehicles from being permanently brought to the Island, with some exemptions. As far as we understand, vehicles already registered in Jersey will not be affected.
We appreciate that this news will be of great concern to Jersey residents. In keeping with the Club’s aims and objectives as outlined in the club’s constitution, we will look to engage with this matter to do everything we can to support our members.
Should anyone wish to add their voice in this matter, please contact us.
You are also of course welcome to express your own concerns through the Government of Jersey’s consultation.
We will provide a further update to members as matters progress.
