ULEZ expansions devastates London Figaro ownership

Today, Tuesday 29th of August 2023, the cost of driving a Figaro in London has skyrocketed from zero to £12.50 per day or £4,562 a year – making it too costly for many owners. This has resulted in a noticeable drop in club membership, from 112 a year ago to just 20 today.

This could have been avoided had Nissan UK or Nissan Japan assisted the club in helping Figaro owners to achieve Euro 4 emissions compliance. The main reason provided that Nissan UK will not help is that the cars were not made for the UK market, while Nissan Japan advises that the cars were only made for the Japanese market. In effect, both Nissan UK and Nissan Japan are saying that as they did not distribute the cars outside of Japan, they are unwilling to provide support.

It is incredibly disheartening that considering that ownership of a Figaro has seen substantial revenues back to Nissan over the years, Nissan is refusing to offer any assistance in resolving this issue for our members. We feel betrayed by Nissan’s lack of concern and understanding of our member’s situation, and the fact that they are not willing to help us find a solution is incredibly frustrating and annoying.

We had hoped that Nissan would be understanding of our plight and would be willing to provide us with some sort of assistance, but it appears that our hopes have been dashed.
