Cherished Vehicle Show – Sunday 1st June 2014

For the 3rd year running, Nissan Figaros were present at the Chippenham Lions Cherished Vehicle and Farm Fun Day in the Allington Farm Shop field on Sunday 1st June.  Every year it’s grown but it’s still a small enough event to make it fun and enable us to have a relaxing day.  The weather was also on our side once again, which meant we could keep the roofs down.

We had five Figaros all together, with the furthest travelled being Dolores coming from Witney and the nearest was Linda from Colerne.  Chris and Ann made it over from Gloucestershire and Mike and Polly joined Dave and me from Bristol.

We had quite a lot of interest in our little cuties, and Dolores particularly attracted notice in her beautifully custom metallic pink Fig, which drew a few converts to the Figaro cause.

Other clubs included Jaguar, Rolls Royce, VW and MG but there were also some beautiful individual exhibits, including a military Aeriel motorcycle who stopped by on his way to the D-Day commemorations in Normandy.  A range of ancient and modern farm vehicles were displayed (from a little Massey Ferguson tractor to a modern combine harvester) and a very appropriate bouncy tractor was a popular draw, along with “Mr Chuffy”, a ride that took passengers across the field with the driver’s dog accompanying him until the weather got the better of him and he decided to sit in the shade.

The Lions are expecting to have made about £6000 for local, national and international charities, so if you want to be part of it next year (with what would seem to be guaranteed good weather) see you next year!
